I recognize that therapy can feel vulnerable, so I want to give you a little information about me so you can decide if we might be a good fit! My name is Emily Janes! I have both a master's degree and PhD in Marriage (Couple) and Family Therapy. I absolutely love my job and believe it is a privilege to be welcomed into the lives of my clients. In addition to being a therapist, I am an Assistant Professor in the Couple and Family Therapy Program at The University of Nevada, Las Vegas. In this capacity, I teach classes, supervise students in their clinical work, and conduct research.Â

Marriage and Family Therapist - Intern - What does it mean?Â
As you've probably noticed on my website, I am a Marriage and Family Therapist, Intern in the state of Nevada. What does this mean? Simply put, I am working towards full licensure! As part of this process, I have two supervisors who aid me in my work. They consult with me on cases, help in emergency circumstances, and help me continue to grow and develop as a therapist. My supervisors are both fully licensed and have decades of experience as therapists, scholars, and instructors.Â

My Approach to Therapy
Many believe therapy is only for moments of crisis, but I believe that it can be a beautiful resource for anyone seeking extra support or a compassionate companion on their life journey. Whether you are navigating a difficult season or simply want a quiet space to explore your inner self, therapy offers a path forward.
Â
I offer a warm, client-centered approach rooted in genuine support. I aim to build a non-judgmental environment where every part of your story is welcome. Because I believe a strong bond is the heart of healing, our first sessions focus on getting to know you, your strengths, and the specific goals you hope to achieve. From there, I integrate evidence-based methods, such as emotion-focused and attachment-based therapies, tailored to your needs. My role is not to dictate your choices or offer unsolicited advice; instead, through deep conversation and thoughtful intervention, I help you gain clarity and see new perspectives. My ultimate hope is to empower you to make the decisions that feel most authentic to your life. It is truly an honor to witness the courage and growth of my clients.
Â
If you are curious about my therapeutic style or the specific interventions I use, I invite you to reach out for a complimentary 15-minute consultation to see how we can work together.Â
Why Sagebrush?
-
Sagebrush is the state flower of Nevada
-
Sagebrush symbolizes resilience, grounding, and cleansing
-
If you know anyone who attended Utah State University, you know that we have a lot of pride in our school. Needless to say, I'm proud to be a "true blooded Aggie" who loves "the spot where the sagebrush grows"
